Hamptons Hotel

Village Oasis

Historical structures are an important part of the built environment, but they often fall into a state of disrepair without any commercial use. Neighbor envisions repurposing this building originally built in the 17th century in the Hamptons outside of New York to become a meeting house and central space for a small hotel in the town. This commercial program allows restoration of the existing structure, but not without careful consideration of the architectural context to respect the historic narrative and local architectural code.

The addition to the building is designed with a similar scale and materiality as the original in modular blocks, creating a series of hotel rooms and open courtyards. This architectural composition maximizes the connection of a visitor to the historic structure and creates a commercially viable business for the community.
