Adaptive Re-use Warehouse

Bronx, NY

The reuse of existing structures is an important part reinvigorating communities with responsible land use. With the design of CREATIVEWORX, Neighbor partners with a planning board and a local group of small business owners that wanted to create their own coworking facility and exhibition space in upstate Massachusetts. CREATIVEWORX is an aggregator of small businesses with common goals and challenges, but also a creative platform to accelerate their growth by encouraging innovation within a collective studio.

To showcase this ethos, CREATIVEWORX takes a disused warehouse mill that is otherwise completely vacant and creates a vibrant platform for creative work. Through selective architectural intervention of about 20% of the floor area and 35% of the building’s facade, the development strategy will require minimal capital to affect a significant amount of space.
